I really liked that this metal is a true brushed gold, it’s not brass. I wanted to dress up the kick plate bottoms of some old cabinets and thought this would look great. The installation was a bit of a learning cure, I thought you would just cut it and tape it up….which you do….but I was not prepared for the difficulty in getting it to go on straight. It arrives rolled up pretty small, so when you lay it out it has a lot of curl still left in it. I was able to straighten in, but when I was installing it kept wanting to curl back up a bit.I ended up buying Tin Snips to cut it, that worked very well. It was a pretty straight cut, but not perfect. I’m not sure it you would be able to cut this with annoying other than a metal saw, if you don’t have them. The instructions also say you need to handle with gloves when working with it, but they don’t include any gloves.Once I had it sized, I peeled back the covering on the taped side and started to install. I had a difficult time getting it to go on in a straight line…It just kept wanting to slope down and because the glue was so strong you could not go back and lift it to reposition. I ended up ripping my first attempt off halfway through and tried again with a new piece and with somebody helping me. I think if you were trying to go over a really long area this would be even more difficult. Once it was in, it does look like it is going to hold well. I do like the look, but I am questioning if I will continue to a larger area, or just leave this as a bit of an accent. I also have noticed a bit of an imperfection in the middle of the strip I used, either from all the pressure it took to install, or something I didn’t notice doing while cutting it. The material does bend pretty forgivingly. I would also Not recommend using this if your are going to need to cut and put two ends together, if you need a seam, it will look very obvious and you won’t be able to hide it.
